Wisniewski: Gov-elect′s Inconsistencies a Bad Sign for N.J.
December 10, 2009
TRENTON – Assemblyman John Wisniewski on Thursday released the following
statement:
“Gov.-elect Christie is apparently learning that governing involves more than vague
promises and rants.”
“Either his transition team wants New Jersey to apply for Race to the Top federal
education funding or it doesn′t.”
“Borrowing money for transportation work is either ‘unconscionable’ or it’s not.”
“Despite Gov.-elect Christie′s best efforts, it cannot be both.”
“Gov.-elect Christie is already having difficulty sticking to what he says, and that′s a bad
sign for New Jersey.”
The Star-Ledger on Thursday reported that Gov.-elect Christie – after calling borrowing
money to replenish the Transportation Trust Fund "unconscionable” - will borrow more than $1
billion to pay for highway improvements and public transit projects.
It also reported that Christie’s transition team urged the outgoing Corzine administration
to delay applying for federal education aid - nearly two weeks before Christie’s spokeswoman
faulted the governor for not seeking the money.
